So I have now listened to a few tracks. I can see why you would like them, Mitch. But not for me I'm afraid. Soft Machine are better, but verge on the self-indulgent. If you have time they are worth listening to though.nomadtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17714845635955522112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164975954177814825.post-56950180793763324042012-12-06T15:11:41.616-08:002012-12-06T15:11:41.616-08:00Or get them to come to see us.Or get them to come to see us.nomadtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17714845635955522112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164975954177814825.post-57698016451257788712012-12-06T15:10:34.872-08:002012-12-06T15:10:34.872-08:00I think Beiderbecke was even before Ian's Uni ...I think Beiderbecke was even before Ian's Uni years, Charlie. A jazzer as a husband, an austistic son who has over a thousand CD's with the complete works of the Beatles, Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd etc. and a recognised authority on who recorded what and when, complete with detailed members of the band at the time. A 38 year old son who discovered the first Nirvana record with the baby on the jacket before I realised it was a pop group and not and state of LSD relaxation. My favourite - Paolo Conte (have all of his records - an Italian singer).Pat Gerber-Relfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00309477888996997341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164975954177814825.post-4367230778499042432012-12-06T03:03:02.148-08:002012-12-06T03:03:02.148-08:00Rather good if you can analyse the music and know ...Rather good if you can analyse the music and know what it's about, Pat. I'm more of a half-listen sort of person and just tune out the tracks I don't instantly like. A friend tried to turn me on to the finer points or Coltrane and Adderley once, but I just liked or disliked certain tunes. I get the impression you'd like to hear some other music sometimes . . .nomadtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17714845635955522112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164975954177814825.post-40389792637309161262012-12-06T02:59:43.102-08:002012-12-06T02:59:43.102-08:00Once we stop going regularly with friends to place...Once we stop going regularly with friends to places that play 'popular' music, I think we all develop eclectic tastes. I think mood, place and company are what make music most enjoyable. That includes driving one's car alone on a long journey. Jazz always seems to me to fit well with eating or relaxing after a meal in a small place full of people chatting. I don't go to those places enough these days!nomadtravellerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17714845635955522112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164975954177814825.post-36666871179224202422012-12-05T23:24:39.741-08:002012-12-05T23:24:39.741-08:00Being married to a "jazzer" for the past...Being married to a "jazzer" for the past 44 years, I am an authority on jazz, be-bop, Brubeck, Coltrane, Adderly, Davis etc. etc. with not even actually being on the scene myself. Of course, I like it, but when it's my background music two-thirds of the day, you get to know them all. Hubbie still plays as a golden oldie, the band is average age about 72 years, but all from the good old 50's-60's days of jazz. RIP Brubeck, one of the best, there are unfortunately not many still around.Pat Gerber-Relfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00309477888996997341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4164975954177814825.post-24106095498314092482012-12-05T22:55:56.933-08:002012-12-05T22:55:56.933-08:00I have what you'd call a very eclectic taste i...I have what you'd call a very eclectic taste in music, it covers a very broad spectrum. While I have dabbled with the jazz genre I certainly wouldn't say I'm a fan. I am familiar with some of Brubeck's work, and I certainly know this track.
